The Cedar House Support Group

                            Support for Postnatal Depression

The Cedar House Support Group is for women who are experiencing postnatal depression. The group provides a safe and supportive environment where mothers can get together with others who may be feeling similar to themselves. This helps their recovery by normalising feelings and reducing the sense of isolation that PND can bring.

The group is facilitated by a trained and experienced counsellor and a health visitor:

Liz Wise is a specialist PND counsellor who has been supporting mothers and facilitating PND support groups for twelve years. Having had severe PND after both her children she knows what a difference groups like this can make to a mother’s recovery. Liz is also the PND support coordinator for the National Childbirth Trust and has produced the video, Understanding Postnatal Depression.

Barbara Lambert is a local health visitor who has been supporting mothers over a long period of her practice and realises the enormous benefits of support groups.

The group runs from 9.45 to 11.45am every Tuesday, term time only, at Chiddingfold Surgery, Chiddingfold, Surrey.  It is informal, confidential and there is no charge for it. A babysitting facility, also free of charge, is provided in the same building. There is ample free parking.

From June 11th 2010, there will also be a support group for mothers in the Woking area, please contact Liz for further details.

If you know of anybody who may be interested in attending the Cedar House Support Group, please contact Liz Wise on  07773 283556, lwise@talktalk.net for further details. All calls are confidential.
